Terms of use
Last updated: 12 October 2026 · Deutsche Fassung
1. Scope and provider
These terms apply to the ScreenWhisper Mac app, its online services, and the purchase of credits. The provider is helpful bits GmbH, Südliche Münchner Straße 55, 82031 Grünwald, Germany ("we"). Other terms of a customer do not apply.
2. The service
ScreenWhisper records your screen and your voice. When you process a recording, our server sends it to Google Gemini and returns text such as a bug report, a support reply, a prompt, or a summary. The app also transcribes dictation and rewrites transcripts. The app runs on Macs with Apple silicon. The AI functions need an internet connection and an account. The privacy policy explains which data the service processes.
3. Who may use ScreenWhisper
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract. You can use ScreenWhisper as a consumer or for your business.
4. Account
You sign in with Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or Apple. Keep access to your sign-in account safe. You are responsible for actions in your ScreenWhisper account. Tell us at once if you think that someone else uses your account.
5. Credits and prices
- AI processing uses prepaid credits in US dollars. You buy credits in the app. Before you pay, the app shows the credit amount and the processing fee. Stripe Checkout then shows the total amount with any tax.
- The contract for a credit purchase starts when you complete the payment in Stripe Checkout.
- For each AI request, we deduct credits based on the tokens that the request uses and the token prices of the model. If a request fails, we release the reserved credits. The app shows your balance and your usage.
- New accounts get free credits. The app shows the amount. Free credits expire 180 days after we give them.
- Paid credits do not expire. Credits have no cash value and you cannot transfer them to another account. Your statutory rights, including the right of withdrawal in section 6, stay unchanged.
- If you turn on automatic top-up, we charge your saved payment method with the amount you set when your balance falls below the threshold you set. You can turn it off in the app at any time.
- Stripe processes the payments and sends the receipts and invoices.
6. Right of withdrawal for consumers
If you are a consumer, you have the following right of withdrawal. A consumer is a person who buys for purposes that are mainly outside their trade, business, or profession.
Withdrawal instructions
Right of withdrawal. You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day of the conclusion of the contract.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, you must inform us (helpful bits GmbH, Südliche Münchner Straße 55, 82031 Grünwald, Germany, phone +49 171 4709677, email info [at] helpfulbits.com) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (for example a letter sent by post or an email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal. If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
Early end of the right of withdrawal. Credits are digital content that we deliver at once. If, at checkout, you ask for the credits to be available at once, before the withdrawal period ends, and you confirm that you know you lose your right of withdrawal, your right of withdrawal ends when the credits are added to your account (§ 356 (5) BGB). In that case, the invoice that Stripe sends you repeats this confirmation.

7. Your content and acceptable use
- You keep all rights to your recordings, your text, and the results. You give us the right to process them only to provide the service.
- A recording can contain personal data of other people, for example their voice, name, or messages on your screen. Record and process such data only if the law allows it, for example with their consent.
- Do not use ScreenWhisper for illegal content or to harm others. Do not break the Google Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy, because every request goes to Google Gemini.
- Do not attack, overload, or try to bypass the limits or the billing of the service.
If you break these rules, we can block requests or suspend the account. We take your interests into account.
8. AI results
AI results can be incomplete or wrong. Check each result before you use or send it. The results are not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available, but we cannot promise that it is always available. Maintenance, network problems, and outages at Google or other providers can interrupt it. We can update the app and the service when the changes are reasonable for you, for example to fix errors, for security, or because a provider changes its model. Credits you already bought keep their value.
10. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, under the German Product Liability Act, and under a guarantee we gave. For slight negligence, we are liable only for the breach of an essential contractual duty, and only for the typical damage that we could foresee when the contract was made. An essential contractual duty is a duty that makes the contract possible and that you can normally rely on. Apart from that, our liability for slight negligence is excluded. Your statutory rights for defects of digital products (§§ 327 et seq. BGB) stay unchanged.
11. End of the contract and account deletion
You can stop using ScreenWhisper at any time. To delete your account, write to us from the email address of your account. We can end the contract with a notice of 30 days. If we end it, we refund paid credits that you have not used. Both parties keep the right to end the contract without notice for a serious reason.
12. Changes to these terms
We can change these terms for future purchases. We publish the new version on this page with a new date. A change does not apply to credits you already bought unless you agree to it.
13. Law and disputes
German law applies, without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live also protect you. If you are a merchant, the courts in Munich have jurisdiction. We are not willing and not obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
